How Does Referrals Work?

Refer a Patient

This is used for referring a patient to another clinician who does not belong to your establishment, but has a ClinicYou account. Click the button, search by name, select one or more clinicians and write a short message and click send. This does a few things:

Send the clinician an email with the text message you typed
Shares the patient's medical records with them
Shows the referral(s) on their home page when they login on a desktop machine

The referrals will remain on home page until dismissed (Mark as Actioned) by the recipient. In a single click from there, they can access the patient's medical records, read and write in the patient's notes and view attached files.

Note financial info such as invoice data are private to each clinic. After a referral is marked as done, you can get back to the patient like you would as usual - using the quick search or more advanced search on the Patients tab. You do not need to use referral facility to flag a patient up for a colleague within your own clinic - suggest method is to just set them a task.
