Ordering Blood Tests On ClinicYou

TL;DR


We have partnered with Nationwide Pathology for seamless ordering of tests. Nationwide Pathology offers a wide range of tests, including blood, urine and other common diagnostic tests. Furthermore, they have a nationwide network of locations for sample collection. Patients can also enjoy the convenience of in-home sample collection. Our end-to-end integration enables you to order and receive blood tests within ClinicYou.


You can either use Nationwide's phlebotomy service or collect sample in your own clinic. When you place an order, the patient will receive an email with instructions to contact Nationwide to arrange phlebotomy appointment. If you are collecting the sample in clinic, you can order the necessary kit from Nationwide and send it with a printout of the order form generated from ClinicYou.


By default, ClinicYou creates an invoice item with approximate cost of tests, which you can use to bill patients and Nationwide will send you a bill for the test costs. Alternatively, you can specify whether Nationwide should collect these charges directly from the patient.


Requirements


First, you need to register your clinic / service with Nationwide. Click the labs icon on the patient's medical records page and you will be taken to the pathology ordering page. Instructions on how to sign up for the service are on that page.


Once you register, please let us have your clinic's unique code and if relevant, any specially negotiated test profile details (You can use chat interface or email support@clinicyou.com ). We will then enable ordering system for you.


Clinic-Specific Test Profiles


Nationwide is generally able to negotiate on special prices for tests or groups of tests that your clinic uses often. They create special 'Profiles' and assign a unique code for the collection. If you do that, please send us the following details so that we can ensure these will be visible on your search results: Profile Name, Profile Code, Turn Around Time, Sample Requirements (e.g 1 Yellow Tube, 2 Purple Tubes), Price.


How Do I Order Tests?


We have pre-populated a searchable database of all the currently available Nationwide Pathology tests. Once you find a test that you need, you can find details such as cost, sample requirements (if you have in-house sample collection facility) and turn around times. Click the green checkbox to select the tests that you need. Once you order tests, you can view them on All Orders tab. When results are back, you can view them under the appropriately named tab next to it.

You can add tests you frequently use by clicking the purple heart icon. For convenience, you can group favourites. This allows you to filter favourites for easy access.

Please note that the prices quoted are approximate. Please view Nationwide Pathology price list for up to date price list. You can edit the group price to reflect your markup if relevant.


To print a paper order form, click the order number on the list of orders.


How Do I Receive Results?


When results are ready, both ClinicYou and Nationwide will send you notifications. You can view most results within ClinicYou and we will be updating the viewer with new functionalities prospectively. Nationwide's results viewer is called iChor, which can be used as a back up in case there are issues with the integration.


New results are shown with a blue dot next to it. ClinicYou keeps tab of who viewed the results. Mouse over the clinician icon to view who in the clinic has viewed the results.
