Terminolgy and Drug Search

ClinicYou has built in search capability to find and add clinical terminology (SNOMED) and drug names to medical records.

As you type in the find diagnosis field, if the term was previously used, autosuggest shows matching terms. You can choose one and hit the + button to add that to the patient
If the term was not previously used (and thus not in the clinic-wide list), you can click the lens icon next to the field with the + sign. This will search NHS clinical terminology database from NHS Digital and you can click a term to add that to the patient (and to the clinic-wide list). The terminology ClinicYou uses in SNOMED CT.
Similar arrangement for drugs too but I have not implemented one click adding - you have to manually select the name and add it. This is because drug name databases show very long names for the drug which can be ugly in your clinic letter.

SNOMED Search

Here is an example of the search system in action:

From August 2023, we have another way of adding drugs to the list on patient's medical records. With the 'more' actions buttons visible on the left of the notes entry (to open those, click the small triangle), click the magic wand icon. This will display a popup which gives you a way of extracting SNOMED codes from the notes text and any drug names. Once a list of names / codes are displayed, you can select desired ones and add them to the list with a single click.

Magically Extract Diagnoses and Drugs

You can trim and clean up the text, or add dose information if you wish before adding the items extracted.
