Video Consultations

You can easily do a video consultation through ClinicYou. Here is how it works:

You need the patient's email address or mobile phone number entered in the relevant fields on the patient details panel (this is to send the patient joining instructions for video calls. This email / text is sent as soon as you initiate the call).

A video call icon will be visible on patient's medical record page if you have an email / mobile number. Click this icon to start a consultation.

As soon you click 'Yes' on Start video call? popup, a call is created and patient is sent a dynamic joining link. Other than clicking / tapping the link, they have nothing else to do and they DO NOT need a ClinicYou account.

If you wish other people to join the call, we currently suggest sending the link to yourself (by clicking the checkbox on that popup) and sharing this.

The video screen will open in a new tab. If you don't see this, make sure that the browser is not blocking this (check the messages from browser)

On the video screen check the settings, test your hardware and join the call.

On tapping the link sent to them, patient can join the call. Patients can join from any modern communication device capable of video.

The link will remain live for 1 hour after you first initiate the call. The button will be subtly highlighted to show that the old link can still be reused.

When you create an appointment with the term 'Video' or location as 'Virtual', the patient confirmation email that is sent automatically describes how it works. If it is a video consultation, an hour before the appointment, they get an email reminder, again with some blurb on how to join the call and what to expect.

Anyone with the video link can join the call. This is useful for MDT meetings or for parents / guardians to join the call

Anyone in the call call share their screen - useful to demo results / scans.
